What is your role and main responsibilities at Mint?

Operations Manger for Contract Catering Ensuring a smoothing running of the desk for the client and team and just making sure we are hand picking the right candidate for each role!

Can you describe a typical day in your role?

Every day is so different, which is why I love it I would say Challenging but I think that’s what makes it so rewarding, matching the right candidate to the right role is always great.

How did you get started in your career, and what brought you to Mint?

I got made redundant during Covid, previously I was a client of mint, I’d always loved the way they worked and their approach, so when they reached out it was a perfect match!  I started helping out with some recruitment, before working on the hospitality division, after proving what I could do I ultimately moved on to run the contract catering department.  I now lead a team of people specialising in deployment of staff to hospitals, care homes, workplace catering, schools, colleges, universities and more.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Good feedback from the client always makes me and the team smile, but also just as important when the staff say how much they enjoy there job, the staff feedback is just as important as client feedback to us.

What skills do you find most essential for your role?

Communication and organisation is key to every minute of everyday in the team I work within, the fast paced nature of my department requires these skills.  Sometimes bookings can be planned weeks in advance, but when last minute cover is required we need to ensure the booking has the same level of detail as when its pre-booked.

How do you approach problem-solving and decision-making in your job?

I go with my gut and try to put myself in both sides of the situation, before making an informed decision.

What do you enjoy most about working at Mint?

The family vibe in the office, and of course our client are just like part of the family to which I love.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to watch the rugby and see family and friends, this weekend is the challenge cup final at Wembley, I’ll be heading there to watch the wire bring it home!

If you could have dinner with any person dead or alive, who would it be?

What’s a fun fact about you that most people at work don’t know?

I tell everyone everything. My downfall, I’ve never been known to keep a secret!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Australia I have been before when I was younger and I would love to go back and explore the areas I didn’t get to see.

What’s one goal you have for the coming year, either personal or professional?

This year I became a homeowner, so personally I’d love to concentrate on the renovation and making my house a home.

If you could instantly become an expert in any field or skill, what would it be?

A note from Andrew our Finance Director.

We are so pleased to have Dan, our fantastic Operations Manager, heading up our Contract Catering division.

Dan used to be one of our valued clients, so he really gets what we’re all about and how to look after his customers. Nothing is ever too much for Dan especially when it comes to looking after our clients and reassuring them that they are in good hands.

He’s a fantastic leader who knows how to get the best out of his team, always making sure everyone feels motivated and valued. Dan’s a real team player and a great communicator, always keeping things running smoothly. Within his division, he is super organised, given the fast-paced nature of it and has a great eye for detail, ensuring that the right people are put in the right places 24/7!

There is no doubt, that Dan has been a major force behind the growth and success of his division, and it is great to see the improvements he has implemented to ensure that the division goes from strength to strength.
